Pilots
ARION in live research assessment
Eight institutions test ARION’s interventions in real assessment processes, then feed what they learn back into the tools.

Pilot institutions
Eight institutions across Europe pilot ARION in real evaluation processes, spanning research-performing and research-funding organisations and national bodies. Together they bring diverse governance, disciplinary and national contexts — the range needed to make the interventions work beyond a single setting.

RFO, Romania, national
Co-design & test Narrative CVs, multilinguality. National outreach via CoARA National members and RDI community; linking national lessons to EU.
Multilingual NCVs, OS indicators, national embedding

RPO / Univ. Alliance, Spain + EU alliance
Harmonise NCVs across alliance; multilingual CVs; OS indicators; scaling via Agoras portal, a marketplace for members of a University Alliance. Feeds alliance practices back into ARION
Multilingual CVs, OS indicators, alliance scaling

RPO National Consortium, Greece
Pilot Greek-language NCV; inclusive indicators; FAIR workflows (DMP tool + HARDMIN). Outreach via libraries and authorities.
Multilingual NCVs, FAIR/OS indicators, national embedding

RPO / Univ. Alliance, Netherlands + EU alliance
Harmonise NCV, RP, OS indicators across alliance. In NL: test OS indicators + NCV in R&R and SEP evaluations; pilot with CRIS and infrastructures.
OS indicators, recognition integration, institutional/national scaling

RPO, Cyprus, institutional
Trial light-touch NCV & RP fields in GNOSIS (DSpace-CRIS); multilingual options; OS indicators. Institutional pilot with national links.
Light-touch adoption, multilingual CVs, OS indicators

Univ. Alliance, France + multi-country
Harmonise NCV/RP core; test cross-site adoption (ERIs/ERGs); knowledge sharing via GraspOS Registry.
Multilingual CVs, OS indicators, registry knowledge sharing, alliance-wide adoption

RPO/RFO, Ireland National Consortium)
Embed tailored RP + OS indicators in IReL consortium to consolidate RRA. Nationallevel consortium engagement.
OS indicators, library-led embedding

RPO, Spain, institutional
Test extended RPs and NCVs in life sciences; integrate OS practice indicators with the SMP 360 holistic tool. Outreach via Basque Dept. of Health and nationally through Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII).
OS indicators, NCV/Profile integration, holistic assessment (SMP 360), institutional–national scaling

How piloting works
Piloting is structured and supported, not left to chance. Each institution receives a support package matched to its readiness: intensive mentoring, guided implementation with peer exchange, or autonomous adoption with access to toolkits and documentation. A shared monitoring framework — surveys, interviews and technical tracking against agreed KPIs — captures what happens, and those findings refine the interventions in continuous cycles so they stay practical and adaptable.

Results and lessons
As pilots progress, this page collects what we learn: adoption models that worked, barriers and enablers, and honest accounts of what needed changing. Findings are published as case studies and feed directly into the deployment playbooks and assessment protocols other institutions can reuse. [Results published as pilots report.]

Become a pilot
Become an early adopter Beyond the eight pilots, ARION runs two Early Adopter Programme rounds for institutions ready to test the interventions in their own assessment. Selection is transparent, and support is tiered to your starting point. If your institution wants to move from principle to practice, this is the route in.
